New Apple iPhone 3G s – It’s Finally Here!
| The new Apple iPhone is finally here (almost). It was announced yesterday and will be available on June 19th. It seems that many of my readers agree that the iPhone is the way to go. |

| Here is my brief summary. I will start with what I like about the iPhone, then follow it with a list of the new features of the latest version of the iPhone.
WHAT I LIKE: 1) It is an Apple Product. It syncs very cleanly with the data on my MAC. Other phones say they have sync capability with data phones, but in reality it usually a kluge and very buggy. 2) Tons of Applications. There are tons of applications for all the data phones, especially the Blackberries and the Palm Treos, the list of applications for the iPhone dwarfs the number of applications for the iPhone and that list keeps growing exponentionally. 3) The Cool Factor. It is pure and simple: I love gadgets. There is something about Apple products, and the iPhone in specific that just make them cool. They have a great ergonomic feel to them when you hold and use them. The iPhone’s full features set, combined with its ease of use and cool little extras make it a pleasure to use. |

NEW iPHONE FEATURES Although the iPhone has basically stayed the same, there are several new features that really stand out and make this new version the one that a true geek-ophile must have. 1) Faster. Almost everything is up to 2x faster and more responsive on the new iPhone 3G S. Internet access, page loads, graphics rendering, opening new programs, gaming and more are all up to 2 times faster on the new iPhone 3Gs. |
| 2) Video Camera. I could not believe it, but the previous iPhones did not have a video camera. For me, this is a must. I have a 7 year old son. I love to take spontaneous pictures and videos of him when he is playing or trying something new and sending it to my wife and to his grandarents. This iPhone allows you to easily upload your videos to your own MobileMe Gallery, YouTube, or your own computer. It also has a 3 MP camera for great still shots.
3) Cut, Copy & Paste. This is another one of this must have features that I just can’t believe they didn’t already support. It is even better now than I expected. You can cut or copy text and images from one program to another. |

4) Voice Control. To me, this is just a potential convenience feature. You can use your voice to call contacts in your phone book and play songs from your library.
5) Built in Digital Compass. Let’s you know where you are going and automatically reorients map. |
| 6) Voice Recorder. This is a must have feature, that I thought already existed, but it looks like they made improvements to. You can record a quick memo, a meeting, or even a lecture. This is perfect for me, since I always have random thoughts, to dos on the run, and have a lousy memory/focus and like to replay comversations and meetings again when I am home. |  |

7) Computer Tethering. This is a great feature that I have been waiting for, they finally implemented, but I still need to wait for. That doesn’t make sense, does it? Here is what I mean. First, computer tethering is where you use your phone as a modem for your computer. That is right, you can use your phone to connect your computer to the internet anywhere that your phone works, even if there is no wifi or internet connection for your comptuer. The only problem with this, although the phone supports it, the phone companies in the US and some other countries do not support it. How cheap. What a bummer!! |
 And More. There are several other features that are new to the iPhone 3G s, but the list above are the ones I find most important, useful, fun.

Wow, now this is the next phone for me. It finally has the features I’ve been looking for. Well, almost – I wish tethering would work in the US, but otherwise it looks like a great phone/everything device.
